AL MAZYOUNA: Nearly 50 exhibitors from the Sultanate of Oman and Yemen will take part in the second Al Mazyouna Economic Exhibition and Forum, opening on November 2 as the border free zone seeks to attract investment and expand bilateral trade.

Organised by the Public Establishment for Industrial Estates, Madayn, the event will run until November 4 at Al Mazyouna Free Zone in Dhofar Governorate.

Qais bin Mohammed al Yousef, Chairman of the Public Authority for Special Economic Zones and Free Zones (OPAZ), will preside over the opening.

Participants include government entities, private companies, investors and entrepreneurs, with the programme combining investment presentations, discussions and business meetings.

Ahmed bin Khamis al Kasbi, Director-General of Al Mazyouna Free Zone, said the event aims to turn contacts established during the first edition into partnerships and projects that support trade between the two countries.

The free zone, managed by Madayn under the authority’s umbrella, is seeking to build on its border location by simplifying procedures, improving coordination with relevant entities and developing logistics services and facilities for investors.

Al Kasbi said the forum would present investment opportunities and allow investors to discuss proposals and operating models.

Meetings between traders and companies are intended to support commercial partnerships and potential agreements, while the exhibition will allow businesses to showcase products and services and explore access to the Yemeni market.

The programme includes presentations on the free zone’s role in regional investment and discussions covering customs and regulatory procedures, transport, telecommunications and supply chains.

A panel on investment incentives and support will bring together representatives from Madayn, the Tax Authority, the Directorate-General of Customs and entities involved in land transport.

Exhibitors span the industrial, commercial, logistics, automotive, food and telecommunications sectors. Import-export businesses and service providers will also participate.

Al Kasbi said the event seeks to attract sustainable investments that generate value for investors and the local economy, while strengthening Al Mazyouna’s role as a gateway for trade and investment. — ONA
